Douala in a state of shock over the incident

The State Counsel at the Ndokotti Magistrate Court in Douala 3, and the Gendarmerie Brigade at Akwa Nord in Douala 1.  On Monday, October 28, 2024, opened investigation on the tragic scene that occurred in the night of Saturday, October 26 breaking Sunday, October 27, 2024, when a newly wedded lady, Sorelle Manuella Kamga, slumped or collapsed at her wedding party, and passed away.  Terrible!

On the first day of the investigation, some persons who were at the wedding party, including the husband of the deceased lady, were invited for interrogation either at the State Counsel’s Office at the Ndokoti Court, or at the Gendarmerie Brigade at Akwa Nord. The Mentor News leant that the Office of the State Counsel and the Gendarmerie Brigade, have been recording statements from those summoned, while waiting for the result of an autopsy to know the real cause of the shocking death.

The Wedding Day Finally Came

The story goes that Sorelle Manuella Kamga, lived with her fiancé for seven years before the planned wedding last weekend. During the seven year period, they had three kids. Their wedding was in fact first planned for 2020, but had to be postponed because of the COVID -19 pandemic, also known as Coronavirus.

The marriage was finally scheduled for Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, 2024. Everything went well from the signing ceremony at the council, and the wedding proper. As is usually the case, a grand reception was organised in the night of Saturday, October 26, to crown the historic event in the life of the couple. The venue of the reception was ‘Hotel Johannes’ at Akwa Nord.  Of course a major highlight of the grand reception  or wedding party, was supposed to be the cutting of the cake by the newly wedded couple.

The Wedding Party

The occasion rolled on into the wee hours of Sunday, October 27. By 3am, it was finally time to cut the cake. The confectioner, Flore Thierry Meune, and her team, were already around with the cake. The newly wedded lady, Sorelle Manuella Kamga, had gone into the hotel room, took off her wedding gown, and put on another beautiful dress  she had reserved for cutting of the cake,. When she returned to the hall at a few minutes after 3am, it was time to cut the cake. But she decided to heighten the festive mood in the hall, by singing one of her favourite songs, “Mogo Farima” by an Ivorian artist, Rosine Layo.  It was after al supposed to be one of her best nights on earth.

Sorelle Manuella Kamga, thus took the microphone from the MC and hit the podium. When she started singing, she invited the husband to join her at the stage.   The video of the event shows how the newly wedded man hit the podium, ready to spray the love of his life, with banknotes. The husband dropped the first 10,000 FCFA note, dropped the second, but before he could drop the third, a shocking scenario rocked the podium, as  his wife who  was singing with so much joy, suddenly slumped  on to the podium.. There was confusion on the podium.. When one watches the video of event, it comes out clear that many people in the hall initially thought that the newly wedded lady had deliberately gone down on the floor, as they see some stars do during their weddings, on TV. But no, everyone in the hall soon realized that what happened was not a planned act, and that the newly wedded woman, had in fact collapsed. She was unconscious.  Panic and confusion gripped the entire hall.

Medical Team Declared The Newly Wedded Lady, Dead.

Suffice to say Sorelle Manuella Kanga was rushed to the nearest hospital which was the Ad Lucem Hospital at ‘Sable’, Akwa Nord, that is, close to the Bonamoussadi side of Akwa Nord. The medical team at Ad Lucem, probably realized that the lady’s situation was irreversible. The lady was rushed to the Doauala General Hospital, which is a specialist hospital. From ‘Sable’ in Akwa Nord to the Douala General Hospital is not a long distance. More so, at that time of the night, there is little traffic on the road, and so the road was free.   But unfortunately, when Sorelle Manuella Kamga was rushed to the Douala General Hospital, the medial team on duty realized in their first examination, that she had died before getting to the hospital, and so directed that the corpse be taken to the hospital’s mortuary. Terrible! A newly wedded lady leaves the house for her wedding party, and ends up in the mortuary! A women, who had waited for seven years for her marriage or wedding to take place, and then dies a few hours after the wedding. This life!

Back at the venue of the wedding party at ‘Hotel Johannes’ in Akwa Nord, everything had turned sour.  People were shocked and traumatized. The night that people were bustling with a lot of gaiety, had suddenly turned into a night of mourning.

The Wedding Cake That Was Never Cut

The cake in one of the pictures, used for this story, is the wedding cake that the newly wedded couple, were supposed to cut when the lady finished singing. The cutting of the cake that was being highly awaited that night, finally did not take place. This was not because the confectioner failed to bring the cake on time, but rather because the newly wedded lady, who was seen filled with life just a few minutes before the cake was supposed to be cut, suddenly passed away.

The lady who baked the wedding cake, Flore Thierry Meune, a specialist in that domain, wept on social media: “C’est vraiment la pie experience de ma vie de patissiere. La joie de marriage c’est directement transforme en deuil. Je n’ai pas les mots. Mon equipe et moi, nous somme en larmes . Nous sommes traumatises”. It is approximately translated as: “It is really the worst experience in my life as a confectioner. The joy of marriage suddenly transform into death. I lack words. My team and I are in tears. We are traumatized”.

While waiting for the autopsy result to really know what happened to Sorelle Manuella Kamga, some medical practitioners are suspecting that she suffered from cardiac arrest commonly known as heart attack or heart failure. Doctors say it possible for somebody to suffer from heart attack, or heart failure, if the person gets over excited.

Take note that the picture of the lady in this article is that of late Sorelle Manuella Kamga, who passed away a few hours after the wedding that she had patiently waited for seven years. This life! She leaves behind three kids and the newly wedded husband.

MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE.
