Veteran Journalist, JEAN LAMBERT NANG, Who Left His Mark When He Worked At CRTV Sports Service, Is New Mayor Of MINTA, Centre Region

MINTA Is In The ‘Famous’ Upper Sanaga Division Of First Lady, CHANTAL BIYA, And Minister of State, Secretary General At The Presidency, FERDINAND NGOG NGOH. All The 7 Councils In The Upper Sanaga Division Are In The Hands Of The CPDM, Which Ran Unopposed In 6 Of The 7 Municipalities, Including MINTA, At The Last Municipal Elections.

Veteran journalist, Jean Lambert Nang, senior personnel of the Ministry of Communication, who was also a councilor of his native Minta municipality, in Upper Sanaga Division of the Centre Region, was on Thursday, December 4, 2025, elected Mayor of Minta, to fill the vacuum that was left by Mayor Mout Abalang, who unfortunately passed away in September 2025. Coming in as Mayor of Minta at a time when the next municipal elections is supposed to be around the corner, it is very likely that Nang will head the CPDM list in Minta municipality, at the 2026 municipal elections.
Minta is one of the seven municipal councils in the Upper Sanaga Division of First Lady, Chantal Biya, and the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh. The other six councils are Mbanjock, Bibey, Lembe Yezoum, Nkoteng, Nsem, and Nanga Eboko which is also the Divisional headquarters. Al, the seven municipal councils in Upper Sanaga Division are considered as small councils, as all of them, including the Nanga Eboko Municipal Council, each have 25 councilors including the mayor and deputy mayors.
Not surprisingly, all the seven municipal councils in Chantal Biya’s Upper Sanaga Division are in the hands of the ruling CPDM. In fact at the last municipal elections which held in the country on February 9, 2020, the CPDM ran unopposed in six of the seven municipalities, including Minta. It was only in Mbanjock, where there were two lists, that is, the CPDM, and Garga Haman Adji’s ADD. But the situation in the Upper Sanaga Division, contrasted sharply with that of neighbouring Lekie Division, where the ruling CPDM, faced a number of other political parties like PAL, PCRN, PDC, Universe, and FDC.
Meanwhile Jean Lambert Nang is somebody that has left his mark in journalism in this country, especially when he was a chief sports commentator at CRTV. Nang was also reputed for his frank talk, especially when he left CRTV, to the point where he was being branded in some quarters as a rebel. After leaving CRTV, Nang who got into private practice as a consultant, returned to the Ministry of Communication, where he been a senior personnel. But all along, he remains outspoken to an extent, and has never hesitated to cry out about the sorry state of Ministry of Communication in Cameroon, which, unlike in other countries, is the ministry that has one of smallest annual budgets in Cameroon. And thus despite the will, the important role that the ministry is supposed to play, it cannot do much because of the lack of means. As an adage says, even the most beautiful woman in the world, can only give what she has.
