UNIVERS Leader, Prof NKOU MVONDO, Warns That The Party Will Not Follow AKERE MUNA, If He Gets Into Alliance With BELLO BOUBA Or TCHIROMA

Vows That UNIVERS Party Which Gave Investiture To AKERE MUNA For October 12 Presidential Election, Will Not Ally With “PEOPLE THAT HAVE SHARED THE SAME TABLE WITH THE DEVIL”
NKOU MVONDO Recalls That BELLO And TCHIROMA Supported The Modification Of The Constitution By The Biya Regime In 2008, Which Scrapped The Limitation Of The Mandate, Of The President.
Insist That BELLO AND TCHIROMA Are Not People To Be Trusted. “These Are People Who Say One Thing In The Morning, And A Different Thing In The Afternoon”.

The National President of the UNIVERS Party, Prof Nkou Mvondo Prosper, whose party gave investiture to Barrister Akere Tabeng Muna to be the party’s candidate at the October 12, 2025 presidential election, has warned that the party will not follow Akere Muna, if he gets into an alliance with either the National President and presidential candidate of UNDP, Bello Bouba Maigari, or the National President and presidential candidate of FSNC Party, Issa Tchiroma Bakary. Both Bello Bouba and Issa Tchiroma resigned from the Biya Government quite recently, after being in the regime for many years. Bello Bouba for example, entered the Biya Government in 1997, and only resigned quite recently, and thus was a member of the Biya regime for as long as 28 years. “I or the Univers will not ally with people that have shared the same table with the devil. I will not for anything on earth, get into a coalition or an alliance with somebody like Bello Bouba or Tchiroma”, Nkou Mvondo has firmly declared.
Prof Nkou Mvondo made the declaration on Sunday, September 7, 2025, during the weekly programme ‘Libre Expression’ (Free Expression) over Info Tv in Yaounde. The programme has as Moderator, Parfait Ayissi. It should be noted that Nkou Mvondo was one of the invited members of the panel discussion in the flagship programme of Info TV, on that day. One of the topics for discussion on that September 7, was the allegation that has been making rounds, that a possible coalition between Bello Bouba, Issa Tchiroma, Akere Muna and Maurice Kamto, was in the making, for the October 12, 2025 Presidential election.
Modification Of Constitution In 2008

When it came to the turn of the leader of Univers Party, Nkou Mvondo, to react to the allegation of a possible coalition of Bello Bouba, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Akere Muna and Maurice Kamto for the October 12 presidential election, he first dismissed it as fake news, saying that the candidate of Univers Party, Akere Muna, was not involved in any such discussion. He even accused the Tv station of propagating false information. It was an accusation which, as expected, did not go down well with the Moderator of the programme. Parfait Ayissi asked Nkou Mvondo if he knows everything that Akere Muna as presidential candidate does, and whether Muna as presidential candidate does not have the right to discuss or negotiate with other candidates for a possible coalition.
In response, the National President of the Univers Party, Nkou Mvondo, first reiterated the fact that Akere Muna is running for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, on the ticket of his party. He said Univers as a political party has its position on certain issues, which the party’s presidential candidate has to respect. He went on to talk of how Bello Bouba and Issa Tchiroma were part of the Biya regime for many years, and that the two politicians in 2008 supported the controversial modification of the Constitution of the country by the Biya regime, to enable Biya to hang on in power eternally. It should be noted that before the 2008 modification of the Constitution, the Constitution of Cameroon limited the mandate of the President of the Republic to 7 years, renewable once. But the controversial revision of the Constitution in 2008, scrapped the limitation of mandate.
Nkou Mvondo asserted that if the controversial modification of the Constitution in 2008, to scrap the limitation of the mandate of the President of the Republic did not take place, the Cameroonian people would not have in this year, 2025, been face with the nightmare of having the 92 year old President Biya, who has been in power for 43 years, again being a candidate at the October 12, 2025 presidential election. Nkou Mvondo said it is inadmissible that after being longtime members of Biya regime that has ruined the country and enriched its members, the same Bello Bouba and Tchiroma would come to tell the impoverished Cameroonian people that they are out to fight for change. He considered that a provocation.
“Bello Bouba And Tchiroma Are Not To Be Trusted”

The Univers leader said the main reason that Tchiroma and Bello Bouba gave for their recent resignation from the Biya Government, was that they could no longer have access to President Biya. Nkou Mvondo said this means that if President Biya calls them tomorrow, they will again abandon the opposition and return to the regime to continue with the eating, at the detriment of the people. He noted that Tchiroma is on record to have abandoned the opposition twice to join the Biya regime, and no one can rule out the possibility that he can do so for the third time.
Nkou Mvondo insisted that Bello Bouba and Issa Tchiroma and not people to be trusted, as their history or record in politics show. He said the two party leaders excel in inconsistency, and are not reliable people. He firmly ruled out the possibility of the Univers Party having anything to do with Bello Bouba or Tchiroma, in relation to the October 12, 2025 presidential election. “For nothing on earth, can I accept to be in a coalition with either Issa Tchiroma or Bello Bouba. They are to be trusted”.
When reminded by the Moderator of the programme, ‘Libre Expression’, that Akere Muna is known to have met separately with Bello Bouba and Issa Tchiroma, the Univers leader said the issue is not a matter of who met who, but rather the allegation of a possible alliance for the presidential election. Nkou Mvondo disclosed that Issa Tchiroma for example, whom he used to call big brother, was his friend at one time.He disclosed that Tchiroma tried to convince him to join the Biya regime, but he bluntly refused. “There were times we discussed up to late at night, but I repeatedly told Tchiroma that I could not accept to join the Biya regime. Instead, I asked him how he and Bello, could have accepted to join the regime”, Nkou Mvondo further disclosed.
“Muna Will Go Alone”

The Moderator of the programme over Info Tv, Parfait Ayissi, further asked Prof Nkou Mvondo, what he would do, if Akere Muna, who is the presidential candidate of Univers Party, gets into an alliance with either Bello Bouba or Issa Tchiroma, or both, for the October 12, 2025 presidential election. The leader of Univers Party was blunt in his response. Nkou Mvondo minced no words that if Akere Muna gets into an alliance with Issa Tchiroma or Bello Bouba, or both, for the presidential election, he will go alone, for the Univers Party will not follow him into such an alliance. As aforementioned, Nkou Mvondo was blunt that his party cannot ally with people “that have shared the same table with the devil”. He added that, “To eat with such people, you need a long spoon”.
“Bello Bouba And Tchiroma Refused To Support Muna’s Candidacy “
Meanwhile, it should be noted that the Coordinator of the civil society or pressure group, KAWTAL, Abel Elimbi Lobe, a couple of months ago met with Barrister Akere Muna, and declared his support for his candidacy. Since then both men are said to be in regular contact, though Akere Muna has been coming under criticism by some pro- Bamileke groups, for having by his side Abel Elimbi Lobe, whom they accused of being anti – Bamileke ( BAMIPHOBIA). That aside, Elimbi Lobe who has become more of a permanent participant in the weekly programme,’Libre Expression’ over Info Tv, was as usual a member of the panel discussion on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Reacting to the statement that was made by the Moderator of the programme, that Akere Muna met with Bello Boua and Issa Tchiroma in Yaounde, Elimbi Lobe who disclosed that he talked with Akere Muna by phone in the morning of that September 7, first said that he was not aware of the alleged possible alliance of Bello Bouba, Tchiroma, Akere Muna and Kamto in the making. He said what he knew is that When Bello Bouba’s UNDP and Issa Tchiroma’s FSNC breakup their alliances with the CPDM last June, Akere Muna met Bello Bouba and Issa Tchiroma separately, with a request that they support his candidacy for the 2025 presidential election. But Elimbi Lobe said both Issa Tchiroma and Bello Bouba refused, and told Muna that they too wanted to be candidates at the presidential election..

YANGO Parties And Their Presidential Candidates
Meanwhile, the warning publicly issued on September 7, 2025 by the National President of Univers Party, Prof Nkou Mvondo Prosper, that the party will not follow Barrister Akere Muna’s into an alliance with either Issa Tchiroma or Bello Bouba, or both, for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, once more bring to the limelight the difficult working relationship that often crops up between leaders of YANGO Parties and the parties’ presidential candidates. It should be noted that small political parties that are ‘hired’ for use in elections, by persons who in reality are not militants of those parties, and who leave the parties after the elections, are now commonly known in Cameroon as YANGO Parties, which is a mockery. YANGO is an affiliate in Cameroon, of an international taxi hiring service.
There are bound to be some misunderstandings or little problems here and there, when somebody who is not a militant of a political party, contacts the President of the party, and strikes a deal to be the candidate of the party at the presidential election, or better still, strikes a deal to use the party in an election. The person who comes from outside and strikes the deal to be the party’s candidate at the presidential election, has his agenda or interests, some of which may not be in line with the position of the party, and that create problems. And that is why this whole idea of somebody who is not a militant of a party, jumping in to be the presidential candidate of the party, is not good.
“YANGO Does Not Offer Free Service”
Meanwhile when the National President of Univers Party, Nkou Mvondo, warned in the September 7 programme over Info Tv, that, his party will not follow its presidential candidate, Akere Muna, into an alliance with Bello Bouba or Issa Tchiroma, or both, other members of the panel discussion mocked the Univers Party as YANGO Party. In a rather light hearted reaction, Nkou Mvondo said he is the driver of YANGO, while Akere Muna is a passenger, and that his hands are firm on the steering.
Nkou Mvondo added that the difference with his YANGO and his passenger, Akere Muna, as compared to others, is that he did not collect any money from the passenger, for he decided to give him a free ride or free service. He was by that claiming that contrary to what people say, he did not receive money in the deal with Muna, to give him the investiture of t the Univers Party. But a member of the panel discussion, Prof Mathias Owona Nguini, in a rather light hearted reaction too, rejected Nkou Mvondo’s claim, insisting that YANGO never offers any free service. By this, he was insisting that Akere Muna paid money to Nkou Mvondo, that led him to receive the investiture of the Univers Party, to be its candidate at the 2025 presidential election in Cameroon.
