But The Female National Football Team, The Indomitable Lionesses, Returned To Yaounde On August 17, 2026 With The AFCON Trophy, And The Presidential Couple Were Still Not Back In Yaounde. President Biya Left The Country On June 7, 2026, For A “Brief Private Stay” In Europe. But Since Then, He Has Neither Returned Home, Nor Seen In Public Anywhere.

President Biya who left Cameroon way back on June 7, 2026, for what the Civil Cabinet at the Presidency, said was for a “brief private stay” in Europe has, up till date neither returned to the country, nor has he been seen in public. In other words, the President of the Republic has been out of the country for over two months, and the public does know exactly where he is, why he has been out t for so long, or even when he will return home.
It should be noted that this situation is unprecedented , as though President Biya has over the years been known to make frequent visits abroad, never before has he stayed out of the country for up to two months. The situation has been made further worse, by the fact that the 93 year old President Biya , has not been seen by the Cameroon public either in TV images, videos, pictures or whatever, since he left Cameroon over two months ago, and even in the face of all the disturbing allegations on the social media, and even by some foreign media organs on the health of the President, alleged to be in Switzerland.
All that the Government has said so far is that, contrary to the disturbing allegations on the social media about the President’s health situation, he is neither hospitalized nor sick. But then where is President Biya, how is he faring, and why has he been out of the country for so long, or better still, why did the ‘brief private stay’, turned into months? These are questions that many Cameroonians at home and abroad, have continued to pose, and for which there have so far been no convincing answer by the CPDM regime. .
Unprecedented Long Stay Outside The Country

The situation is even the more disturbing to the Cameroonian public, because as aforementioned, this is the first time in the over 43 years long years that Paul Biya has been President of Cameroon, that he has stayed out of the country for up to two months. More so, in the past, whenever President Biya stayed out of the country for a long period, and Cameroonians started raising questions, the President’s men would respond by arranging for TV images , videos or pictures to put out, in which the President would be seen receiving for example foreign dignitaries, investors and so on. This was also designed or organized to try to justify the usual claim by President Biya’s men, or by the CPDM regime, that whenever the President is out of the country even on private trips, he does work for the country.
Meanwhile this time around, the President’s men or the CPDM regime, has so far not put out any video or picture, or organize for TV, to show the President “active at work”, as they claim. It only further increases speculations, and heightened fears, about the President’s health situation, especially following the allegations on the social media by some Cameroonian activists in the diaspora, and some foreign media organs, continue to make about the President’s health situation.
A Part Of The Opposition Says There is Already Vacancy
Meanwhile, a part of the Cameroon opposition and civil society, are already claiming that there is vacancy in the office of the President of the Republic of Cameroon, following President Biya’s very long stay outside the country, more so, on a private stay. The MP3 Party for example, addressed a correspondence dated August 6, 2026, to the President of the National Assembly, calling on him to convene an Extraordinary Session of Parliament, to take note of President Biya’s long absence from the country, and declare vacant, the office or post of the President of the Republic.
But member of the ruling CPDM, have been arguing that there is no Law or provisions in the Cameroon constitution, that puts a limit on the period that the President of the Republic, can stay outside the country. But the opposition
disagrees.
Prime Minister Says Presidential Couple IS In Yaounde
Meanwhile this confusing situation was further compounded last Saturday, August 15, 2026, by the Prime Minister and Head of Government, Chief Dr Joseph Dion Ngute, who travelled to Rabat, Morocco, “on the esteemed instruction of the President of Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya”, to attend the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), that pitted Cameroon and Malawi, on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Addressing the Indomitable Lionesses upon arrival in Rabat on August 15, Prime Minister Dion Ngute among other things, told the players that; “Le President Papa Paul Biya, et son epouse, Mama Chantal Biya, vous attendant a Yaounde, avec la coupe”. Approximate translation: “President Papa Paul Biya, and his wife, Mama Chantal Biya, are waiting for you in Yaounde with the Cup”. The Prime Minister said the presidential couple was waiting for the indomitable lionesses in Yaounde. Is President Biya in Yaounde, Mr Prime Minister?

Some people think that this was rather a way or a strategy by the Prime Minister, to encourage the players of the Cameroon national female football team, ahead of the WAFCON final. But many people are asking questions, as to why a senior Government authority like the Prime Minister and Head of Government, would at this period when the Cameroonian people are very worried, asking serious questions on the long stay of President Biya, outside the country. The President left the country on June 7, 2026 for a “brief private stay’ in Europe, but has since neither return to the country, nor has he been seen in public anywhere.
The Indomitable Lionesses Returned To Yaounde With WAFCON Trophy
Meanwhile, Cameroon’s female national football team, the indomitable Lionesses, last Sunday won the WAFCON trophy in Rabat, Morocco, and retuned to Cameroon’s capital, Yaounde, on Monday, August 17, 2026 with the trophy. The population massively turned out to salute the Lionesses for the victory. Just that contrary to what the Prime Minister told the Lionesses on Saturday, August 15 in Rabat, Morocco, “President Papa Paul Biya” and wife, “Mama Chantal Biya”, were still not back in Yaounde on Monday, August 17, when the national team returned home with the WAFCON Cup. Suffice to say some people are now making a mockery of what Prime Minister Dion Ngute said, on the social media. It is a situation that could have been avoided by the Prime Minister.
