In 2019, the same MINAT Boss,  Atanga Nji, refused to register Cabral Libii’s party, ‘LE CITOYEN’

Abdouraman Hanadou Baba disclosed how Minister Atanga Nji invited poverty-stricken Pa Robert Kona to his office, and turned him against Cabral Libii

If only Cabral Libii had in 2019, accepted the offer of a political party, JUVENCE, by his childhood friend, Valere Bertrand Bessala!

The Cameroon Party for National Reconciliation popularly known by its French abbreviation, PCRN, whose legal and legitimate National President is Hon Cabral Libii Ngue, in a February 1, 2025 press release denounced the persistent machinations by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, to try to the block the candidacy of the party’s leader, Cabral Libii, at the 2025 presidential election, in flagrant violation of the Law which has confirmed him as the leader of the party.

The PCRN was reacting to a rather comedy show that was organized in the Ministry of Territorial Administration commonly known by its French acronym, MINAT, on Friday, January 31, 2025.  Some four controversial politicians, including usurpers, were presented as opposition party leaders whose parties have purportedly declared their party’s support for the yet undeclared candidature of the 92 year President Paul Biya, at the 2025 presidential election.  President Biya, who has been in power, for 42 long years!

The January 31 controversial meeting at MINAT was chaired by the ministry’s Boss, Paul Atanga Nii, who organized the comedy show. The PCRN’s concern was the presence at the event of the former President of the party, Pa Robert Kona, who was presented at the event as Founding President of PCRN, in flagrant violation of a decision of the Far North Appeal Court on September 25, 2024. Cabral Libi himself in a video described what happened at MINAT against him as “machinations ourdies”.

The Appeal Court Had Banned Pa Robert Kona From Talking In The Name Of PCRN

However in the February 1, 2025  press release of PCRN signed by the Spokesperson of  the party, he said they were  however not surprise with the official communiqué and images on the website of MINAT on the comedy show that held on January 31, 2025, , designed to sow confusion in PCRN. A portion of the press release in French, with an approximate translation into English by The Mentor News, reads: “Face with this other attempt at manipulation, it should be recalled that the ex-president of PCRN, Mr Kona Robert, introduced a motion for the annulation of the resolutions of the congress of the party, which he in person presided over on 11 May 2019 at Guidiguis, but it was dismissed by the Court of First Instance Kaele on 5 September 2024. It should equally be recalled that the Far North Court of Appeal in a decision dated 25 September 2024, ordered  the said person (Pa Kona( to stop to act in the name of PCRN , and in the capacity of the National President, or that of Founding Father which is not even prevue in the texts of the party”.

The Mayors Of Makak And Matomb Had long Been Fired From PCRN

The press release also made references to the Mayors of the PCRN – run Makak and Matonb Municipal Councils in Nyong and Kelle Division (PCRN’s stronghold) in the Centre Region, though their manes or functions were not mentioned. The two were also at the comedy show that was organised at MINAT last Friday. The press release noted that that though these two persons were given investiture by the PCRN for the 2020 municipal elections, they have for a longtime now no longer being militants of the PCRN, and so whatever the say does not engage the party.

It should be noted that the Mayor of Makak was a member of a panel discussion, “CLUB des l”ELITES”, over Vision 4 TV on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He strongly rejected accusations that he betrayed PCRN by attending the controversial event at MINAT on January 31, 2025. The Mayor admitted that he was thrown out of PCRN long ago, and so he has long ceased to be a militant of the PCRN. He said after being sacked from PCRN, he and some persons have even created their own political party, ‘La Republicaine”.

Serenity At the Base

Meanwhile the February 1, 2025 PCRN press release called on the party’s militants at the base not to be distracted by what the MINAT Boss and Pa Kona are doing, but should rather stay focus on the party’s mission. The militants were thus called upon to maintain the spirit of serenity and concentration on the programme of the party, which is that of rupture and progress. The PCRN called on the Cameroonian people to be vigilant in the face of repeated manipulations by certain members of Government. “The time is for massive registration on the electoral lists”.

Cabral Libii And The 11 Million Movement ’

Meanwhile, many people have been asking why Cabral Libii Ngue and his group in the first place did not create their own party, and rather decided to go and negotiate and takeover another person’s party, which is bringing them headache today.  The truth is that they tried to register a party, but this same Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, would not legalize it. After the 2018 presidential election which Cabral Libii and his 11 Million Movement ran on the platform of Prof Nkou Mvondo’s Parti UNIVERS,  a dispute  erupted between 11 Million Movement  and Nkou Mvondo, over the latter’s failure to release part of Cabral Libii’s campaign funds from the State, that was paid into the account of Parti UNIVERS. Suffice to say the 11 Million Movement decided not to continue with Parti UNIVERS, and so left.

Cabral Libii’s Childhood Friend, Bessala, Registered A Political Party For Him, But – –

It happened that Cabral Libii’s childhood friend, Valere Bertrand Bessala (a civil administrator by training), had taken advantage of being in the Ministry of Territorial Administration, to create a political party known as JUVENCE.  Bessala in fact registered that party for his friend Cabral Libii, though the latter did not initially know. Bessala said in their group of 4 childhood friends, he foresaw that Cabral Libii will one day get into politics, whereas he (Bessala) had no intention or interest of one day getting into politics.

When Cabral Libii and his 11 Million Movement decided to leave Prof Nkou Mvondo’s party, Bessala thought that was the right moment and thus called his longtime friend (Cabral), and presented him with the surprise gift; the documents of a new political party called, JUVENCE, that, he had quietly created for him. But to Bessala’s biggest embarrassment, Cabral Libii rejected the offer. It is not clear why Cabral Libii refused the offer. Perhaps his close collaborators in the 11 Million Movement did not like the idea. Bessala said following Cabral Libii’s rejection, he found himself with a political party in his hand, when he then did not have any political plan or programme. Suffice to say Bessala later decided to get into politics, to make use of the party, JUVENCE, that he had registered.

Cabral Libii And His Group, Try to Register Their Own Party, ‘Le Citoyen’

Meanwhile, Cabral Libii and his group, decided to create their own political party, ‘Le Citoyen’ (The Citizen). The file was deposited in March 2019. But apparently Cabral Libii’s brilliant performance at the 2018 presidential election had frightened Minister Atanga Nji, who is also Mezam CPDM Coordinator, and so he seemingly decided not to legalize Cabral Libii’s party. One of Cabral Libii’s longtime close collaborator Armand Okol, said after they deposited their file for the registration of their party, ‘Le Citoyen’, MINAT kept turning them round and round. Each time they went to MINAT to find out what was happening with their file, they would be told a new story. A times they would be told that one of the documents in the file was missing, and they would rush and bring a copy. Next time another new story would be told.

It should be noted that while MINAT was playing this game, Cabral Libii and his collaborators like Okol were under a big pressure. Time was not on their side. President Biya in 2018 first postponed the legislative and municipal elections to 2019. So Cabral Libii and his colleagues were really afraid that President Biya could call announce the date of the legislative and municipal elections, when they did not yet have a political party. They finally resolved to look for another party, since the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, seemingly did not want to legalize their party, ‘Le Citoyen”.

Suffice to say Cabral Libii and hos group finally met Pa Robert Kona, negotiated and took over his party, the PCRN. There is of course no doubt that money changed hands in the political deal between Cabral Libii’s group and Pa Kona, for the takeover of PCRN. However Cabral Libii being somebody with a strong legal background, made sure that all the required paper work for such a takeover were rightly done, signed and legalized.

Pa Robert Kona In Need Of Food

Abdouraman Hamadou Baba is known more in Cameroon in the domain of football, precisely in FECAFOOT and club management and related issues.  But besides also being a businessman and the President of a football club, he is also involved in politics. Abdouraman made an interesting disclosure as to how the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, got himself into a small internal crisis of PCRN. Abdouraman made the disclosure when he was guest on a popular weekly programme over Equinoxe TV in Douala, known as “LA VERITE EN FACE’.

Abdouramane disclosed that the origin of the crisis in PCRN was over ‘food’. He said  the ‘Founding President’ of PCRN, Pa Robert Kona, a retired civil servant who hails from Kaeie in the Far North Region, at one point started complaining that he was not being treated fairly by the Cabral Libii’s leadership of the PCRN. He started making some controversial declarations. He said Pa Kona felt that with PCRN having a number of MPs a well as running a number of councils, the ‘Founding President’ of the party, who more so  was on retirement, was not being taken care of by the party. Pa Kona said he also wanted a post in the party.

In fact some sources told The Mentor News that what made things to become very difficult for Pa Kona, was that he ran into a certain problem (not political), and his pension was suspended by the Ministry of Finance. That made Pa Kona to become so broke and frustrated. But it should be noted that there was nothing in the agreement that Pa Robert Kona and the Cabral Libii group signed, for the latter’s takeover of the party, that, the party will be taking care of the former President.

How Minister Atanga Nji Got Into PCRN Crisis ‘Uninvited’

Meanwhile, Abdouraman Hamadou Baba said knowing both Pa Robert Kona and Cabral Libii, and also knowing what Pa Kona’s real problem was, he decided to intervene in the matter, to get both sides to sit down and dialogue, so as to sort out the matter. The meetings that were holding in Yaounde to resolve the matter were quietly taking place behind closed doors. Abdouraman was actually assisting Pa Kona at the meetings they were having with the PCRN leadership. Abdouraman said the two sides actually came to an agreement on what the party will be giving to Pa Kona as financial assistance during a specified period of time, and were close to the point of resolving the second and last issue which was to create a post in the PCRN for Pa Kona who felt left out.

Abdouraman disclosed that one day in Yaounde, Pa Kona told him that he had received a call from the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, who invited him to his office. Pa Kona himself at that point did not know the reason for the invitation. Abdouraman disclosed that he was the one that carried Pa Kona his vehicle, and dropped him at MINAT for the rendezvous with Minister Atanga Nji, whom he Pa Kona had never met before. Abdouraman said when he dropped Pa Kona at MINAT, Pa Kona said he would call him when he leaves MINAT. But he said to his surprise, Pa Kona did not call as promise. Abdouraman said what he instead embarrassingly heard next, was Pa Kona making hostile declarations over the media, accusing Cabral Libii of having stolen his party, and that he had taken back his party, and so on.  Your guess is definitely as good as that of The Mentor, as to what happened when Pa Kona met Minister Atanga Nji.
