October 12, 2025 Presidential Election: UNDP Is Mobilizing To Launch The Presidential Election Campaign Of Its Candidate, BELLO BOUBA MAIGARI

The Presidential Election Campaign Of Former Member Of Gov’t, BELLO BOUBA, Who Is The National President Of UNDP, Will Take Place On August 22, 2025 In Ngaoundere, Adamawa Region
BELLO BOUBA Wants The Presidential Election Campaign Launch In Ngaoundere, To Be The Biggest Demonstration Of Force, Never Seen In Cameroon.
The CPDM On Its Part, Has Since Started Campaign In Different Parts Of The Country For Its Natural Candidate For The October 12, 2025 Presidential Election, In The Name Of Consultations
The National Union for Democracy and Progress, NUDP, or better still, ’Union Nationale pour le Democratie et le Progres’, UNDP, will formally launch the campaign of its candidate, Bello Bouba Maigari, for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, on August 22, 2025 at the Adanawa Regional Headquarters, Ngaoundere. This information is contained in a correspondence addressed to Presidents of the Divisional Federations of UNDP in the Adamawa Region, by the Secretary General of the party, Senator Pierre Flambeau Ngayap. Worth noting, that the UNDP presidential candidate, Bello Bouba Maigari, has been the National President of the party, since January, 1992.
Meanwhile, the first two paragraphs of the correspondence of the UNDP Secretary General, addressed to the Presidents of the Divisional Federations of the party in the Adamawa Region, reads thus as loosely translated into English: “The electoral campaign of our candidate at the 12 October, 2025 presidential election, the National President BELLO BOUBA MAIGARI, will be launched at Ngaoundere on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 2 pm. To this effect, the National President –Candidate, ask all Presidents of Divisional Federations of Adamawa, the President of the Adamawa Regional Council and members of the Bureau of the said Council, as well as the City Mayor and his Deputies, and all UNDP Mayors and their Deputies of municipal councils in the region, to mobilize the maximum number of militants of the region, to transport them to Ngaoundere on 22 August, 2025, so that the rally to launch the electoral campaign of our candidate, will be the biggest demonstration of force , never seen in Cameroon”,
The Secretary General of the UNDP further disclosed in the correspondence dated August 9, 2025, that their National President and presidential candidate, has confided the coordination of the exceptional event scheduled for August 22, to Comrade BOBBO SALIFOU, the City Mayor of Ngaoundere, who is also the President of the Vina Divisional Federation of the UNDP.
Demonstration Of Force By UNDP

From all indications, the UNDP presidential candidate, Bello Bouba Maigari, who is also the party’s National President, will be a candidate at the upcoming presidential election scheduled to hold on October 12, 2025. All the stories on the social media and in the traditional media in the last two months, about a North – South Coalition, are just speculations or wishful thinking. When asked at a press conference in Yaounde last Friday, August 8, 2025 about the talk in the media of an alliance in which Prof Maurice Kamto, will be his Campaign Manager, Bello Bouba simply said that the UNDP was opened to any person that wants to collaborate with the party for the presidential election. Asked about the visit that a CPDM bigwig, Eyebe Ayissi, Minister of State Property and Land Tenure, paid him, the UNDP leader again simply responded that the party was open to everybody that want to talk to them.
The Leading Opposition Party
One thing stands out clear, and it is, that, the UNDP has it in mind that the political propaganda that MRC militants have long been making, that MRC is the leading opposition party in Cameroon, is just a figment of the imagination. UNDP strongly holds that it is the leading opposition party in Cameroon, and deserves to be treated as such. The world over, the leading opposition party in a country, is the party that comes second in the National Assembly or in Parliament, in terms of number of seats. And of course in Cameroon, the leading opposition party since the February 9, 2020 legislative election is UNDP. Kamto’s MRC makes the claim, but without any thing to back it up. Bello Bouba Maigari’s UNDP has 7 MPs, 1 Senator, and 17 Municipal Councils. UNDP is also the only opposition party in the country that runs a Regional Council, that is, the Adamawa Regional Council. UNDP is as well the only opposition party that runs a City Council (Ngaoundere City Council), and thus has a City Mayor.
From all indications, anybody who imagines that Bello Bouba’s UNDP will go to join an opposition coalition is day dreaming. To UNDP, considering that it is the leading opposition party in the country, other opposition parties are supposed to stand behind the party. As SDF former communication officers like Jean Robert Wafo and Celestin Djamen used to say, when SDF was the leading opposition party in the country, it the trailer that pulls a car, and not vice versa.
As can be seen in the correspondence of the UNDP Secretary General, the party is proudly demanding that its several elected members in the Adamawa Region like the City Mayor and his Deputies, the President of the Regional Council and his Deputies, UNDP Mayors and their Deputies (of municipal councils), and others, should foot the bills for the grand campaign rally to be launched in Ngaoundere on August 22. The party has not instead gone cap in hand to beg for financial contributions from militants and sympathizers.
Official Campaign Is Supposed To Start On September 27

Meanwhile, it is rather surprising that the UNDP leadership has openly scheduled the launch of the presidential election campaign for the party’s candidate on August 22, whereas the official campaign for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, is supposed to start in the country on September 27, 2025. It is in this light for example, that the PCRN has officially scheduled the launch of the presidential election campaign for its candidate, Cabral Libii Ngue, who is also the party’s National President, to take place in the form of a mega rally in the nation’s economic capital. Douala, on September 28, 2025.
The Ruling CPDM Has Long Started Its Campaign
Meanwhile, the fact is that the ruling CPDM, have already started their presidential election campaigns, though they are not admitting it. Last Saturday, August 9 for example, the CPDM held a grand meeting in President Biya’s Dja and Lobo Division, precisely in Sangmelima. The meeting was chaired by the Dja and Lobo Divisional Coordinator of the CPDM, Louis Paul Motaze, Minister of Finance, who was assisted by Mvondo Ayolo, Director of Civil Cabinet. Motaze claimed that the heavily attended event was a preparatory meeting for the presidential election campaign. But all the speeches at the event, including that of Motaze, were clearly campaign speeches. In Bandjoun last weekend, there was also a CPDM meeting of the Koung –Khi Division, in the name of consultation.
Even Official Events Are Been Transformed Into Election Campaign For President Biya

A big official event for free medial consultations, free diagnoses (free laboratory tests) and provision of free drugs was organized for the impoverished population of Garoua – Boulai in the East Region last weekend, and was presided over by the Minister of Public Health, Dr Manaouda Malachie, The medical personnel (doctors and nurses) involved in the operation, were civil servants. The event was attended by several elites of the East Region led by Joseph Le, the Minister of Public Service, who is also the Regional Coordinator of the CPDM. The official public event was flooded with campaign posters of President Biya.
Even in the nation’s capital Yaounde, and more so right at the Presidency, the Minister of State, Secretary General at the Presidency, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh has for over one month now, been receiving delegations from all over the country, that come to pledge support for the candidacy of President Biya. The CPDM also claims that is consultation.

Reaction Of Local Administrative Authorities, Still Unknown
The UNDP leadership has on their part seemingly decided to play an open game, by openly programming the launch of the campaign of its presidential candidate, at a grand campaign rally in Ngaoundere on August 22, 2025, instead of calling it a grand consultation meeting. However it is not known whether the local administrative authorities in Ngaoundere, have given their green light to UNDP, for the scheduling of the presidential election campaign launch on August 22, 2025. That is, more than one month before the date for the official start of campaign in the country.
