On Sunday, September 21, 2025, the National President of PAL, HM Celestin Bedzigui, Deputy Mayor of Monatele, issued a bilingual release, in which he disclosed that the party and its presidential candidate, Ateki Seta Caxton, have agreed on the possibility of him stepping aside in favour of another candidate in the election, who taking into consideration the present context, stands a better chance of beating the incumbent CPDM candidate, Paul Biya, at the crucial October 12, 2025 presidential election.

Bedzigui who is one of the opposition leaders that has been pressing for a united opposition front in the form of a consensus opposition candidate at the October 12, 2025 presidential election, insist that only a unified candidacy has the chance to put an end through the ballot box on October 12, 2025, the 43 year old Biya regime.  “In the coming days, and in any case, before the launch of the official campaign, the people will be informed of our candidate’s choice of consensus candidate”, he disclosed. It should be noted that the official campaign for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, will start on Saturday, October 27, 2025.

MEANHILE BELOW IN ITS ENTIRETY IS THE ENGLISH PART OF THE RELEASE THAT WAS ISSUED ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2025, BY THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF PAL, HM CELESTIN BEDZIGUI:

         PAL – Liberal Alliance Party,

Message to Cameroonian Citizens Regarding The Consensual Opposition Candidacy

The PAL, Liberal Alliance Party, in agreement with its nominated candidate for the presidential election, Mr ATEKI Seta Caxton, hereby expresses its willingness to accept that its candidate steps aside for any other candidate who, in the current context, would have a better chance of defeating the CPDM.

The presidential election scheduled for October 12. 2025, faced with the spectacle of a country in ruins in all areas, as noted by all, has placed political society before a triple challenge: Committed to rebuilding an efficient State serving its citizens, rebuilding a nation enriched by its diversity, and rebuilding a prosperous economy that guarantees everyone the resources to live in dignity.

The challenge can only be met by unifying the country’s political forces through a consensus candidacy, understood as the voluntary withdrawal of other candidates endorsed by the Constitutional Council in favour of the candidate whom everyone believes has a better chance of leading to victory. This is the principle to which the PAL and candidate ATEKI Seta Caxton adhered to at the birth of the initiative, to meet the expectations of the people and prioritize the pursuit of general interest over the satisfaction of selfish impulses.

The enthusiastic reception given to ATEKI Seta Caxton during his pre-campaign field visits, notably in Bamenda, Buea, Douala and Monatele, suggest a promising continuation of the campaign.

Notwithstanding this encouraging observations, and considering that a unified candidacy is the necessary condition to put an end to 43 years of a system that is showing undeniable signs of entropy – that is, internal collapse, erosion of government’s power and obsolescence of  its techno structures – faithful to the initial spirit of this dynamic, our candidate, ATEKI Seta Caxton, will immediately engage in conversations with those candidates legitimized by the Constitutional Council who believe in the necessity of a consensus candidacy to promote victory.

In the coming days, and in any case before the launch of the official campaign, the people will be informed of our candidate’s choice of consensus candidate.

          The National President Of PAL

           His Majesty Celestin BEDZIGUI
