JOE LA CONFIANCE, Who Has Cried Out, That He Has Been Abandoned By The Population Of Loum Since His Arrest, Has Written An Apology To Mayor WAMBO.
Hon Cabral Libii Li Ngue Ngue, the National President of PCRN and member of Cameroon’s National Assembly, has finally decided to drag a former militant of the party, Mang Jacques Bertrand, to court, for defamation. Mang Jacques who is also a ‘Face book activist’, and has in fact become quite active on the social media these days, joined the Cabral Libii –led movement, “Operation 11 Million” in 2017, and in 2019 the group negotiated and took over the PCRN Party. According to Mang, he resigned from PCRN after the October 12, 2025 presidential election, on grounds that Cabral Libii who was PCRN’s presidential candidate, refused to recognize the alleged victory of Issa Tchiroma Bakary, the National President and presidential candidate of FSNC, and instead recognize the rather controversial victory of the incumbent, 92 year old Paul Biya.
Issa Tchiroma Bakary And MRC Militants At October 12 Presidential Election
But rather than just quietly move over and join the bandwagon of Issa Tchiroma’s supporters, or join MRC Party, whose leader, Prof Maurice Kamto, he now hails, Mang Jacques instead launched a series of scathing attacks or diatribes against the personality of Hon Cabral Libii, on the social media, as well as in some traditional media organs. This was definitely to the pleasure and encouragement of Issa Tchiroma’s supporters, and militants of Maurice Kamto’s MRC Party.
It is no secret that MRC militants massively supported the candidacy of Issa Tchiroma Bakary at the October 12, 2025 presidential election, after the controversial rejection of the candidacy of Maurice Kamto by the Constitutional Council. In fact Albert Dzongang, veteran politician and Special Adviser to the MRC leader, Prof Maurice Kamto, declared to the media that some highly placed members of the CPDM regime told him, that the regime is angry with MRC, because it was MRC that “fabricated” Issa Tchiroma Bakary, as the leading opposition candidate at the October 12, presidential candidate. This link between MRC militants and Issa Tchiroma at the October presidential election, is just to enable readers understand why Mang Jacques resigned from the PCRN because of Issa Tchiroma, and at the same time got close to MRC militants and officials.
Accusations Leveled Against Hon Cabral Libii
Meanwhile, in a number of videos posted online, Mang Jacques repeatedly leveled a number of very damaging accusations against the PCRN leader and presidential candidate, Hon Cabral Libii Ngue. He alleged for example that Cabral Libii was given 1 billion FCFA (One billion francs CFA) by the regime, not to recognize the victory of Issa Tchiroma, but rather to accept the alleged victory of Paul Biya. He challenged Hon Libii, to come out with his own video on the social media, and deny the allegation, or go to court. He boasted that he has incontrovertible evidences to back his claim. Mang who insisted that Issa Tchiroma won the October 12, 2025 presidential election, also accused Cabral Libii of having betrayed the people by refusing to recognize the alleged victory of Tchiroma.
Mang Jacques also alleged that Cabral Libii has been secretly mobilizing militants of PCRN who are active on the social media, to attack the National President of MRC, Prof Maurice Kamto. Mang alleged that Libii has in the last couple of years been doing everything to see that Maurice Kamto, whom he (Mang) describes as a charismatic leader, does not succeed in politics, and should not also be recognized as the leader of the Cameroon opposition. He claimed Libii even worked underground to try to try to block the rehabilitation of Maurice Kamto by MRC, after Kamto left the party in in June 2025 in a bid to be the presidential candidate of MANIDEM, and in September returned to the MRC.
Mang Accuses Hon Libii Of Murder
Mang Jacques said in one of the videos that he was a student leader at the Douala University, at the same time that Cabral Libii was a student leader at the Yaounde University, and alleged that Cabral Libii has been an agent of the regime, since when he was a student. But then Mang did not explain why he then joined Libii in 2017, if he claims Libii has all along been an agent of the regime. Mang also accused Cabral Libii of refusing to assist him. Mang said he was chased away from the Douala University some years ago, because of his strong defense for the rights of students. He said Libii knew the problem, but fumed that when Libii became National President of PCRN and an MP, as well as “Fame Ndongo’s friend”, Libii did not go and meet the Minister of Higher Education, Prof Jacques Fame Ndongo, for the problem he had at the Douala University to be resolved, so that he could be readmitted at the institution.
Apparently the worst of the accusations dumped on Hon Cabral Libii by Mang Jacques, is an allegation he made in one of the videos, that Libii was involved in the killing of Mirabel Ningoum, who was a militant of PCRN. He alleged that the lady died of poison, and that it was Libii that disburse money for the purchase of the poison.
A Mad Man!
Initially, Cabral Libii and his close collaborators in the PCRN, decided as they usually do, to ignore Mang Jacques Bertrand. Some PCRN officials even dismissed him as mad man, arguing that the type of horrible things he was saying, gave the impression that he was insane. But as Mang continued, and with the horrible accusations he was throwing out against Cabral Libii becoming more and more unbearable, Libii and his close collaborators in PCRN finally came to the conclusion that Mang Jacques has gone too far, and that Libii should better drag him to court for defamation. It should be noted that Hon Libii is going to court in his personal name, and not in the name of the PCRN Party of which he is National President.
Allegations Are Of “Extreme Gravity
Meanwhile, the information about the decision by Cabral Libii to take legal action against Mang Jacques is contained in a communiqué that was issued in Douala on January 26, 2026, by Barrister Rene Roger Bebe, who is leading a team of Hon Libii’s lawyers. Worthy of note that Barrister Bebe is also a senior member of the PCRN, the Chief Legal Adviser of the party, and a PCRN Deputy Mayor in Edea.
In the communiqué, Barrister Bebe, who used the letter headed paper of his Law firm, and not that of PCRN, pointed out that Mang Jacques both in the traditional media and social media, made a number of accusations of “extreme gravite”, that is, extreme gravity, which have seriously affected the image and honorability of their client, Hon Cabral Libii. He said Hon Libii in the past weeks maintained his reserve in the face of the vociferous declarations in media outings by Mang Jacques against him, but that considering the extreme gravity of the accusations that Mang persistently continued to level against him, he finally decided to take the matter to court. He said Cabral Libii was going to court, to also give Mang the opportunity to present the evidences he claims to have, to back up the horrible allegations he has been raising against him. Barrister Bebe promised that he will keep the public informed of the evolution of the case, up to the end.
It should be noted that when Mang Jacques was challenged on the social media on the evidences he claims to have, to back up all the wild allegations he was making, he argued that the social media is not a court, and that if Cabral Libii takes him to court, he will present the evidences in court.
Joe La Confiance In Trouble For Defamation
In a similar story, Joe La Confiance, an artist and activist based in Loum, Mungo Division of the Littoral Region, is in trouble for a series of allegations that he raised against Kuate Wambo Guy Mesmin, Mayor of the SDF –run Loum Municipal Council, who is mostly known simply as Wambo Guy. He persistently accused the Mayor of embezzlement of council or public funds. Joe La Confiance , who was apparently being ‘used’ by the opponents or detractors of Mayor Wambo in the count down to the next municipal elections, went to the extent of addressing correspondences to some authorities, as well as to the Special Criminal Court in Yaounde, accusing the Mayor of Loum , Wambo Guy, of embezzlement. As is often the case, he claimed that he had concrete evidences to back up the allegations against the mayor.
Suffice to say at the end, Mayor Wambo, who had repeatedly warned Joe la Confiance to stop the campaign of defamation against him, in vain, decided to file a complaint against him. Wambo filed the case in his name and not in the name of the SDF Party. Joe La Confiance was along the line arrested, and banged in a cell, and was later moved to the Mbanga Prison, on pre – trial detention. Seeing himself in deep shit, JoeLa Confiance, who seemingly dis not have the evidences h claimed to have, finally resolved last weekend to write an apology to the Mayor Wambo Guy Mesmin. He pleaded with the mayor to withdraw the case.
The National Communication Secretary of the SDF, Henry Kejang, that The Mentor News contacted by telephone on Thursday, January 29, 2026, confirmed that Joe La Confiance had addressed an apology to Mayor Wambo. The senior journalist and politician, Henry Kejang, disclosed that Joe La Confiance in his letter, even went to the extent of pointing out how he and Mayor Wambo are related as in –laws, and that one of the mayor’s brother s is married to one of his sisters, or so. Kejang, explained that, it is for Mayor Wabo to decide on what to do, and not the SDF, since he filed the complaint against Joe La Confiance in his name. He said the party had supported the decision that was taken by Mayor Wambo to seek justice and clear his name, and of course that of the SDF Party to which he belongs, from the allegations of embezzlement of funds. Kejang , argued that the apology which Joe la Confiance addressed to Mayor Wambo, is evidence that the accusations that he leveled against the mayor, were spurious.
Disappointed With The Loum Population
Meanwhile on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, a French language online publication, Week Infos, quoted the Cameroonian artist and activist, Joe La Confiance, to have cried out from the Mbanga Prison, that the Loum population, for whom he claimed he was fighting, abandoned him when he ran into trouble. Apparently with the popularity that Joe La Confiance seemingly had in Loum , both as an artist and activist or critic, he thought that if he was arrested, there would be an uprising in the municipality. But then when he was arrested, nothing happened. Worst still, Joe La Confiance was the more disappointed , that not even one of all those persons, that used to encouraged or cheer him on, for what he was doing as an activist to “defend the interest of Loum”, had paid him a visit since he was arrested.
Joe La Confiance said he had learnt his lesson the bitter way, and that considering his abandonment by the population of Loum following his arrest, he was left with no choice than to apologize to the Mayor of Loum. May this also be a lesson to the many Cameroonian ‘Facebook activists’, most of whom, have unscrupulously adopted blackmail and defamation, especially in politics, as their stock in trade, for selfish and vicious ends.
