The Mentor News, an online publication in Cameroon, has been honoured, with the Publisher designated as one of the laureates of the 2024/2025 edition (the 16th edition) of the LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR NATION BUILDERS.
The Publisher of The Mentor News, JOE DINGA PEFOK, was in the 16th edition of the award, designated as, “ALL ROUND BEST INVESTIGATVE JOURNALIST’, by a 25 man jury of the 2024 / 2025 edition, or better still, the 16th edition, of the LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR NATION BUILDERS. “GOLD CATEGORY, 2024 / 2025 EDITION, IN RECONGNITION OF MERIT TO JOE DINGA PEFOK AS ALL ROUND BESR IN VESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST”. The jury had as President, NGAWE JEFF, an outstanding personality, that has been able to simultaneously succeed in both the education and journalism professions.
Meanwhile the prestigious award came from the LIFE TIME MEDIA GROUP with head office in Bamenda, the regional headquarters of the Northwest Region, Cameroon. Worthy of note, that LIFE TIME MEDIA GROUP is Publisher of both the Life Time Newspaper, and Life Time Magazine; two major English language publications in Cameroon. The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the LIFE TIME MEDIA GROUP, is TIM FINNIAN, one of the old hands in the media profession in Cameroon, also reputed for his professionalism, that is well blended with his courage, to often stake out his neck to try to make the media play its role of watchdog and Voice – of -the voiceless, in the society.
Award As An Encouragement And Stimulant To Hard Word
Meanwhile in the notification letter for the LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR NATION BUILDERS, that was jointly signed by the President of the Jury, NGAWE JEFF and CEO of LIFE TIME MEDIA GROUP, TIM FINNIAN, and addressed to the laureate (JOE DINGA PEFOK), they explained how the selection process was carried out. “Your nomination came after a sample survey of public opinion, voting, and a final decision taken by a 25 man jury comprising of lawyers, teachers, journalists and civil society actors. Your nomination comes within a period of time which you have contributed enormously to nation building”
While congratulating the laureate for his brilliance selection, they asserted that: “We hope this award comes as an encouragement and stimulant to hard work, for you to continue your unfailing and untiring efforts in nation building”.
A Real Motivation Indeed!
As seen above, it was clearly stated that the prestigious award was in recognition of merit. LONGFELLOW rightly wrote that while the tendency is for people to judge, or rate, others by what they feel capable of doing, people judge or rate others by what they have already done. As a saying goes, “By their fruits, we shall know them”. The jury of the 2024 / 2025 edition of the LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR NATION BUILDERS, explained in the notification letter that was addressed to the laureate, that: “Your nomination comes within a period of time which you have contributed enormously to nation building”. LONGFELLOW rightly said it, that people are judged by what they have already done.
