Prof MAURICE KAMTO To Certainly Bounce Back As National President Of MRC, At An Extra – Ordinary Convention Of The Party On Nov. 29, 2025

The Convention Will Start With Election To Top Posts In MRC, And The Election Will By A List System. By 6pm On Nov. 20, The Deadline For The Reception Of Lists, Only The List Headed By KAMTO Had Been Deposited. Meanwhile, It Is Scandalous, For An Opposition Party Like MRC, That The President Of The Electoral Commission For The Nov. 29 Election, NDONG CHRISTOPHER NVEH, Is A Candidate In KAMTO’s List.
According to a communiqué that was signed last month by the outgoing Secretary General of MRC, Chief Barrister Ndong Christopher Nveh, a number of top or key posts in the party, were opened for grab. They included the posts of National President, 5 Vice Presidents, the Secretary General and the Treasurer General. The Secretary General said in conformity with Article 28 of the party’s statute, the elections of the top officials of MRC, will hold at the beginning of an Extra –Ordinary Convention of the party convened for November 29, 2025. He said documents for the declaration of candidacies and other formalities, or requirements, by all interested militants, were available at the headquarters of the party in Yaounde. The Secretary General stressed that the top posts in the party were opened to all interested militants, and that the election will be a list system. He as well stated that the latest date and time for any aspirant to deposit the file of his list, would be Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 6pm.
Lone List Headed By Maurice Kamto

Meanwhile in another communiqué signed on November 22, 2025 by Chief Barrister Ndong Christopher Nveh, this time around as President of the Electoral Commission for the election that will hold at the Extraordinary Convention of the MRC on November 29, disclosed that at by end of the period for the reception of lists for the election at 6 pm on November 20, only one list had deposited with the Electoral Commission. He said the lone list which is headed by Prof Maurice Kamto, has been validated by the Electoral Commission for the November 29 election.
The composition of the list stands as follows:
KAMTO MAURICE NATIONAL PRESIDENT
MAMADOU YAKOUBA 1st VICE PRESIDRNT
NOAH TRIAN BALBINE NADEGE 2ND VICE PRESIDENT
SIHM EMMANUEL 3RD VICE PRESIDENT
KAIGANA ISMAEL 4TH VICE PRESIDENT
AISSATOU SAADOU 5TH VICE PRESIDENT
NDONG CHRISTOPHER NVEH SECRETARY GENERAL
OKO APPOLINAIRE NATIONAL TREASURER
A Smart Way For Kamto To Return To The Post Of National President
Meanwhile it would be recalled that Prof Maurice Kamto, National President of MRC, had to officially resign from his post and party in late June 2025, in a bid to run for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, on the ticket of another party, precisely MANIDEM. This was because his party, MRC, boycotted the last legislative and municipal elections which held on February 9, 2000, and so was not represented in the National Assembly or a municipal council. Unfortunately for Kamto and the MRC, the legislative and municipal elections that were supposed to hold last year, were postponed to 2026. Not being represented in a municipal council or at the National Assembly, the MRC of Maurice Kamto could not thus meet up with conditions laid down in the current Electoral Code, to give investiture to a candidate for the October 12, 2025 presidential election.

So Maurice Kamto had to temporary leave the MRC for the MANIDEM party of Anicet Ekane, in a bid to get investiture to be a candidate in the October 12, 2025 presidential election. Ekane gave Kamto the MANIDEM investiture to be the party’s candidate at the presidential election. Unfortunately a rancourous conflict between Anicet Ekane and a former President of M ANIDEM, Dieudonne Yebga, was exploited by some authorities to push the Constitutional Council to reject the candidacy of Kamto for the October 12 presidential election. The pretext was that there were multiple candidacies from MANIDEM for the October 12 presidential election. Suffice to say that the Constitutional Council on August 5, 2025 rejected Maurice Kamto’s candidacy for the October 12, 225 presidential election.
Kamto returned to MRC in September, but the official leader of the party remained the Interim President, Mamadou Mota. Kamto, a renowned Law Professor, had to wait for a legal avenue to return to the post of National President of MANIDEM, considering that he resigned from the post. So the election that will hold at the Extraordinary Convention of the MRC on November 29, 2025, will be a legal opportunity or legal avenue, for Prof Maurice Kamto to legally and officially return to the post of National President of MRC.

When The Referee Of A Match, Is Also A Player
Meanwhile as aforementioned, the MRC communiqué of November 22, 2025 was signed by Chief Barrister Ndong Christopher Nveh, this time around as President of the Electoral Commission for the November 29 election in MRC. Ndong is the outgoing Secretary General of MRC, and as seen above, he is a candidate for the post of Secretary General in the list headed by Prof Kamto. One would have thought that in an election like this, MRC, as a frontline opposition party, would take the opportunity to give some practical lesson on democracy, to the ruling CPDM party, that opposition parties frequently criticize. How can one imagine that in a party like MRC, and for such an election, the President of the Electoral Commission is the outgoing Secretary General and a CANDIDATE on Kamto’s list, for the post of Secretary General.! The President of the Electoral Commission for an election is candidate in the election. The referee of a match is a player at the same time. Hmmmmmmm!
