LAWAN BAKO Who Is Also The National President Of The United Democratic Party, UDP, Revisits The Adage That What An Old Man Can See Sitting Down, A Young Man Will Not See Standing Up
During The Official Campaign Period, LAWAN BAKO Visited His Native Njinikom Sub –division, From Where He Travelled To Wum, Misaje and Ako To Drum Support For Incumbent, PAUL BIYA.

Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako, the National Coordinator and Spokesperson of the Presidential Majority, that has been giving President Biya unflinching and unalloyed support since the group’s creation in the 90s, has expressed the confidence that their candidate at the October 12, 2025 presidential election, the incumbent Paul Biya, will win the election. Lawan Bako expressed this view after performing his civic duty, that is, after casting his vote (for Candidate Paul Biya) in Bamenda, at the crucial October 12, 2025 presidential election last Sunday. He was accompanied among others by his trusted Northwest Regional President of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Kenneth Che Ambe, who, of course also voted for President Biya.
Talking about the UDP, it is worth noting that Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako is the Founding National President of the United Democratic Party, UDP, which was created in 1992, and launched at the Bamenda Municipal Stadium that same year, with personalities like the famous Albert Mukong, now of blessed memory, in attendance. UDP is a frontline member of the Presidential Majority, which is comprised of 20 political parties. It should be noted that Lawan Bako who is also a traditional ruler, is as well a Board Member of the National Hydrocarbon Corporation commonly known as SNH. He was appointed by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.
Presidential Election Campaign

Meanwhile, despite the difficult terrain as regards movement, the Coordinator of the Presidential Majority, Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako, still braved the odds to go down to the field to campaign for their candidate, the incumbent Paul Biya, during the official campaign period for the October 12, 2025 presidential election. He was accompanied among others by the Northwest Regional President of UDP, Kenneth Che Ambe.
From Bamenda, Lawan Bako’s first stop was in his native Njinikom Sub –division in Boyo Division, from where he and his team continued their very challenging journey on motorcycles to Bafmeng and on to Wum, the Menchum Divisional Headquarters, for a campaign stopover. While in Wum, Bako did not only drum support for the candidacy of Paul Biya, but also mobilized a UDP campaign team to go on a door –to – door campaign to seek votes for Biya.
From Wum, Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako and his team continued the campaign journey, still on motorcycles, through Kimbi to Misaje, in Donga and Mantung Division, where Bako campaigned for a few days.. It should be noted that Lawan Bako’s UDP has been implanted in Misaje for quite a number of years now. Meanwhile after Misaje, Lawan Bako and his team travelled to neighbouring Ako Sub –division, where they in fact ended their campaign, as from there they headed back to Bamenda last Saturday, where they voted on Sunday, October 12.
Campaign Message

Meanwhile, during the campaign trip, the National Coordinator and Spokesperson of the Presidential Majority, Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako, among other things prayed the people to continue to have confidence in President Biya, and that they should manifest their support in concrete terms by casting their ballots for Candidate Paul Biya, at the October 12 presidential election. Addressing those people who raised complaints about some Northwest elites, and expressed their unhappiness with President Biya for that, Bako urged them not to transfer their aggression to President Biya, for he is not responsible for the behaviour or action of any elite, including him. On other issues that the people raised, Bako told them to transfer whatever anger they have against President Biya, to him, and that he was ready for that.
On the issue of President Biya;s age that repeatedly came up, Bonchong El Hadj Lawan Bako, reminded the people of the wise saying that, what an old man can see sitting down, a young man cannot see standing up. In Wum where as expected the issue of the very bad state of the Bamenda – Wum Road came up wherever he went, Bako assured the people that President Biya will see to the construction of the important road, which is part of the Ring Road network. He also promised that he will personally do everything possible, to push for the rapid construction of the Bamenda – Wum Road. Bako pointed out that President Biya has already constructed quite a number of roads in the Northwest Region, like the Bamenda – Ekok Road, parts of the Ring Road, the recently inaugurated Babadjou – Bamenda Road, among others.
“Don’t Insult The Opposition”

Meanwhile during the campaign trip, Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako, called on some of the people who were using very harsh words against opposition candidates in the presidential election, as well as against opposition parties, to avoid insulting the opposition. Bako said Cameroon’s democracy is evolving thanks to President Biya, and that the opposition, have their role to play in a democracy. He pointed out that despite all what the opposition candidates were saying against the Government of President Biya, the President had ensured that they were all provided security protection wherever they went for their campaigns, and that their campaign rallies too were protected by the Forces of Law and Order. He said that was why the presidential campaign was going on without any major incident.
Bochong El Had Lawan Bako said the opposition is like whistle blowers, but that the person who does the work for the country, and who will continue to work, to keep moving Cameroon forward, is President Paul Biya.
Meanwhile Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako, is happy that the CPDM, or better still, Candidate Paul Biya, won in his native Njinikom Sub –division, in the October 12, 2025 presidential election.
