NINI CATHERINE (NUH – MBUH), Whose Mother, That is, Bochong El Hadj LAWAN BAKO’S Grand Mother, Died At The Age Of 102, Passed Away On August 22, 2025 At The Age Of 98
Late NINI CATHERINE NUH – MBUH, Will Be Buried At Bochong BAKO’S Palace At Kikfuini, Njinikum Sub –division, And The Cry – Die Will Take Place At Anyajua , Belo Sub-division, And Also At Bochong BAKO’s Palace At Kikfuini.

NINI CATHERINE NUH – MBUH, the mother of Bochong El Hadj LAWAN BAKO, National President of the United Democratic Party (UDP), Coordinator of Presidential Majority, and Board member of the National Hydrocarbon Corporation commonly known as SNH, who passed away on August 22, 2025 at the age of 98, will be buried on Friday, September 5, 2025. The burial will take place at Bochong BAKO’s Palace at Kikfuini in Njinikom Sub –division, Boyo Division of the Northwest Region of Cameroon.
According to the funeral programme, the event will start on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with a wake – keep without corpse at Bochong BAKO’s Palace at Kikfuini. Then on Friday, September 5, the mortal remains of NiNI CATHERINE NUH –MBUH, will be removed from the Fundong Mortuary at 8am, and transported to Bochong BAKO’S at Kikfuini in Njinikom Sub –division, where there will be prayers at 10am. The prayers will be followed by burial in the Palace. Worthy of note, that participation at the burial proper will be strictly limited to family members. After the burial, there will be refreshment for all.
Cry –Die In Anyajua And Kikfuini
Meanwhile on Saturday, September 6, 2025, there will, in line with the Kom tradition, as well as in respect of the will of the decease, be a cry –die and feasting at Anyajua, in Belo Sub-division, where NINI CATHERINE NUH – MBUH lived with her daughter for several years, until she passed away on August 22. The on Sunday, September7, 2025, there will be a cry –die which will include the performing of traditional rites at Kikfuini, precisely at Bochong BAKO’S Palace. The funeral will end on Monday, September 8, 2025 with traditional cleansing at Anyajua.
Worthy of note, that Njinikom and Belo Sub divisions, are both part of the large Kom Fondom, and that Bochong El Hadj Lawan Bako was designated a Third Class Chief by the Paramount Fon of Kom, and that is why he has a palace.
Why The Cry- Die And Feasting At Anyajua

The Mentor News has gathered that according to the Kom tradition, when a woman is old, she leaves the matrimonial home or her husband’s compound as it is referred to in the Fondom, to live with her daughter, for proper care. That was why NINI CATHERINE NUH –MBUH, at one point, left the compound of her husband, Bobe BAKO (now of blessed memory), who had three wives and was the Head of the Tinifoinbi Village, and moved to live with her daughter at her marital home in Anyajua. While at Anyajua, NINI CATHERINE NUH –MBUH’S character was so much appreciated by the people, that she was designated ELDER, and was head of a Women traditional group. As aforementioned, she lived with her daughter at Anyajua until August 22, 2025, when she died in her hands.
In line with Kom tradition and also in respect of the will of decease, family members of late NINI CATHRINE NUH –MBUH, will after her burial on Friday, September 5, travel to Anyajua on Saturday, September 6 for a cry –die and feasting. The feasting, according to Kom tradition will be pay – back time, or to put it in another way, it will be the manifestation of gratitude by the BAKO Family to the people of Anyajua Village, where their mother lived for many years and was so well treated by the people.
