The President General of BOBA explained that what they normally do at NEC meetings is to evaluate the evolution of the association, evaluate their current projects or whatever thing they are doing. “We do discuss all these things during our NEC meetings. Right now we have a project. Last year we celebrated the twin anniversary – 75 years of CPC Bali, and 50 years of BOBA. During these twins anniversary celebration, BOBA decided to offer a project to CPC, which is the Multipurpose Hall. Today, we were evaluating the state of preparedness, to launch that project”, Prof Barrister Duga Ernest Titanji, disclosed.

We Have Galvanized The Association

As to how BOBA is faring under the leadership his team, the President General said when they took over BOBA was more a dormant association. He said they have galvanized the association; and hat the association both at the national and chapter levels is once more back to life. “Another thing is that there was some disunity in BOBA. We have tried as much as possible to reunite all Bobans; to bring all Bobans together. I have been to the United Kingdom, I have been to Switzerland. I have been to the United States of America three times, because the US seemed to have been the difficult one.  Today we have a more united and stronger BOBA, with Bobans ready to participate in activities”, Prof Barrister Titanji stated. Worth noting, that a member of BOBA is called Boban.

Worthy of note as well, that the President General of BOBA,  Prof Duga Ernest Titanji, is not only a practicing lawyer, but is as well a university don. He is a lecturer at the Yaounde II University (Soa).

The President of the Douala Chapter of BOBA also expressed gratitude to those members of the Chapter that generously made financial contributions to assist in the organization of the reception, when he informed members that the Chapter would host the NEC meeting.  He regretted that we are living in a world of ingratitude, where people do not know how to say, thank you.

“We Have Succeeded To Make Bobans Feel Like Bobans”

The President General of BOBA, Prof Barrister Duga Ernest Titanji, recalled that when he and his team were elected into office in 2022, they set out a roadmap. He was happy to note that most of what they set out to do have been achieved. He cited some of the major things they have succeeded to accomplish, in terms of projects like the renovation of some infrastructures at CPC Bali, as well as reuniting Bobans. ‘One of the things we have succeeded to do, is to make Bobans feel like Bobans, and as a result the association has seen an increase in the number of registered members”, he asserted.

Talking about CPC Bali which BOBA succeeded to reopen, as well offered scholarship to encourage students to return to campus, the President General disclosed that the 2024/ 25 academic year, saw enrolment rise to 600 students. He was quite optimistic that the enrollment will eventually get back to the figure before the school’s closure due to the escalated Anglophone Crisis.

GCE Board Accepts To Reopen GCE Center

Meanwhile, the President General of BOBA, Prof Duga Ernest Titanji, disclosed that they contacted the Cameroon GCE Board, on the possibility of reopening the GCE center at CPC Bali. It should be noted that before its temporal closure, CPC Bali had over the years been hosting two GCE Centers – the Center for internal candidates (CPC students), and an external center (Center No. 003 – Bali External).  Titanji said following discussions with the GCE Board, the Board accepted to reopen the center for internal candidates, which was their concern. It is not clear whether the GCE Board was also to reopen the external center at the same time.

Prof Titanji said CPC students were supposed to write the 2025 GCE examination on campus. “But infrastructure failed us”, he regretted.  He explained that due to abandonment during the years that CPC was shutdown, the auditorium in the school where the GCE examination also used to be written, had become dilapidated, and unsafe. He said that was the main reason why CPC students did not write this year’s GCE on campus, and instead had to do so at a GCE exams center in nearby Bamenda.

The President General of BOBA pointed out the problem of infrastructure that obstructed the   reopening of the GCE Center at CPC Bali, only increases the importance and urgency for BOBA, to carry out the Multipurpose Hall Project at CPC Bali.
