2025 Presidential Election: Bad News For AKERE MUNA, As The Adamawa Regional Bureau Of NKOU MVONDO’S ‘Parti Unvers’, Resigns

Resignation is in protest against the fact that the National President of ‘Parti Univers’, Prof NKOU MVONDO PROSPER, unilaterally took the decision to give investiture to AKERE MUNA.

The resignation is also a protest that NKOU MVONDO denigrated on TV, a frontline militant and a big sponsor of the Party, because she declared her candidacy for the presidential election.

One of the candidates for the October 12, 2025 presidential election, Barrister Akere Tabeng Muna, has been hit by bad news, which is the resignation of the entire Adamawa Regional Bureau of the ‘Parti Univers’. It should be noted that the main base of ‘Parti Univers’, which is a small political party, is the Adamawa Region. The headquarters of  ‘Parti Univers’ on paper is in Ngaoundere, the regional headquarters of the Adamawa, even though the party currently does not have even a one room secretariat in the town.  The National President, or better still the Founding President of ‘Parti Univers’ is Prof Nkou Mvondo Prosper, who teaches at the Ngaoundere University.

It should as well be noted that it is thanks to three councilors that  ‘Parti Unvers’ has at the Ngoaundere III Council, that the party, or better still the National President, was able to give investiture to Akere Muna of the NOW Movement, to  run on  the party’s ticket for the 2025 presidential election. It was the same thing at the last presidential election in 2018, when the ‘Parti Univers’  through the National President, gave investiture to Cabral Libii Ngue, to be a candidate in the presidential election.

Reason For The Resignation

Meanwhile  the members of the Adamawa  Regional Bureau of ‘Parti Univers’ that have resigned in a block, told CANAL 2 INTERNATIONAL in Ngaoundere, in a report that came up in the evening of Friday, August 8, 2025, that their resignation from the party was provoked  by two things. The first reason is that the National President of the party, Prof Nkou Mvondo, unilaterally took a decision to give investiture to somebody (Akere Muna), who is not a member of the party. So according to them, Nkou Mvondo took the decision to  give the  party’s investiture to Akere Muna, without  consulting others, especially officials of the party in  the Adamawa which is  the party’s base.

The second reason is that when a frontline militant and local official of ‘Parti Univers’ in Ngaoundere, Membouet Chantal Adelaide, who is also said to be a major sponsor of the party in Adamawa, declared her candidacy for the October 12 presidential election, the National President of the party, Nkou Mvondo, in an interview with a Tv channel in Yaounde, blasted her as: “A SMALL ROASTED FISH SELLER’ in Ngaoundere. The members of the Adamawa Regional Bureau of ‘Parti Unvers’ that have all resigned, strongly condemned such an arrogant and condescending attitude of the National President of the party, and said it was inadmissible for the National President to denigrate a member of the party on Tv, more so a front line member of the party, who has also been putting in much money into the party.

Membouet Chantal Adelaide’s Candidacy Was Apparently A Protest

Prof Nkou Mvondo Prosper

Meanwhile, there are indications that Membouet Chantal Adelaide in reality had no intention or interest to run in the 2025 presidential election, and that the declaration her candidacy and the depositing of her file at ELECAM office in Ngaoundere, was a form of protest against the unilateral decision of the National President of ‘Parti Univers’, to give the party’s investiture to somebody who is not a member of the party. It also looks as if the decision by Membouet Chantal Adelaide to declare her candidacy, was encouraged by members of the Adamawa Regional Bureau of ‘Parti  Unvers”.

It would be recalled that when the Electoral Board of ELECAM on July 26, rejected the candidacy of Membouet Chantal Adelaide, and validated that of Akere Muna whose investiture was signed by the National President of ‘Parti Univers’,  Membouet said it was sad situation for the party. She said it was unfortunate that the President of  the party unilaterally took the decision to give investiture to someone who is not a militant of ‘Parti Univers’, without finding out if there was somebody in the party that was interested  to run in the presidential election. Yet, the militants were those that worked hard to enable the party to have a few councilors in Ngaoundere III,  that in line with the Electoral Code, gave the party the right to give investiture to a candidate for the 2025 presidential election.

Madam Membouet Chantal Adelaide, who Nkou Mvondo denigrated as a “small roasted fish seller in Ngaoundere”, is a business lady who seems to be doing well.  The image of her house in Ngaoundere, that the Canal 2 international reporter visited, was clearly the image of the house of somebody who is living well, contrary to the negative image that Nkou Mvondo maliciously tried to present about her. The members of the Adamawa Regional Bureau of ‘Parti Univers’  that have resigned, also confirmed that Madam Membouet has been putting in a lot of money into the party.

Meanwhile the reporter of Canal 2 International in Ngaoundere, said Nkou Mvondo was contacted for his reaction to the resignation of the Adamawa Regional Bureau of ‘Parti Univers’, but he refused to talk.

The Person To Be Affected Most  Is  Akere Muna

Barrister Akere Muna

The Adamawa Region, especially the chief town, Ngaoundere, is certainly the only area where ‘Parti Univers’ can count on to get some votes at the presidential election for Akere Muna . But with this situation now, where the entire Adamawa Regional Bureau of the party has resigned, really complicates things for the party’s presidential candidate, Akere Muna. He is the main person to be affected as far as the presidential election is concern, as he the one that in reality will need votes at the October 12, 2025 presidential election, and not Nkou Mvondo. He is not a candidate.
